Gender information centre NORA

The Gender Information Centre NORA (GIC NORA) is a Czech non-governmental organisation based on a feminist perspective. Its mission is to promote the equality of men and women in Czech society on both national and regional levels. GIC NORA was established in the autumn of 2004, following an initiative by students and lecturers from the Faculty of Social Studies at Masaryk University in Brno, who sought to extend gender-related activities beyond the academic sphere. GIC NORA activities focus on gender-sensitive education, the gender pay gap, the inclusion of the Roma minority and other disadvantaged groups in Czech society and competency mapping with socially disadvantaged people.
We actively engage with diverse stakeholder groups, including LGBTQI+ individuals, women, youth, educators, and policymakers, to promote systemic change and foster a more inclusive society. Over the past two decades, we have successfully implemented more than 30 projects at both national and international levels, conducted over 50 gender audits within public and private sectors, and contributed to or completed over 20 research initiatives.
GIC NORA is a member of the Czech Women's Lobby, a network of organisations committed to defending women's rights in the Czech Republic. We are a partner in the Amnesty International Letter Writing Marathon and are represented on the Czech Government Council for Equal Opportunities for Women and Men. GIC NORA actively collaborates with women's and gender organisations throughout Europe, including the European Institute for Gender Equality, and engages with various European institutions.
